I promised my school counselor months ago that I would put up a showcase featuring a Lego set assembled by one of her special groups. I never got around to it. She reminded me this week that she still wants to display it, so I got on it.
The problem with the showcase at my school is that it is really two separate showcases. Her display would fill only one side, and I didn't know what to do with the other side.
I used to do a lesson with my second graders when they were studying simple machines. We used Legos to create wacky cars and then we would race them. What better to put beside a Lego display than a Lego display.
My kids made and raced those cars today and then I was able to put up both sides of the showcase. The rest of the day, when I walked by the displays, kids were glued to the front of the display. And they begged me to let them do the same lesson.

Learning Gives You Wings to Fly
"Very Hungry Bulletin Boards," by the blog Artistic Geniuses.
She has multiple boards to go with the theme of The Hungry Catepillar. This one is my favorite.
